How Real Riders Shaped The Rider’s Edge Journal
When I first started dreaming up The Rider’s Edge Journal, I knew what I wanted it to feel like - real, relatable, and genuinely useful. Not just another pretty notebook that ends up on the tack room shelf, but something you’d actually use - jotting down goals, lesson notes, reflections, and wins, muddy fingerprints and all.
But from the start, I knew this journal needed to be shaped by more than just my ideas. I wanted the draft to go out into the community - to real riders and horse mums - for honest feedback and fresh eyes. I wanted to make sure it truly reflected what competitors and riders today would actually use in their everyday riding and competition journeys.
So a few months back, I put a call out to the Riding Brave community. I asked horsewomen from all disciplines - dressage, show jumping, western, eventing, mounted games, trail, and everything in between - to take a look at my draft and share what they really thought.
Because that’s what Riding Brave has always been about — real riders, real stories, real connection.
Listening to the women in the saddle
The feedback that came back was pure gold.
Some wanted more space to track lessons and training sessions.
Others asked for somewhere to plan out their season and record results.
And a few reminded me how important it is to have space for the people in your support team - the one encouraging, coaching, mentoring and supporting.
There were so many thoughtful, practical ideas - the kind that only come from riders who live it, breathe it, and love it every single day.
From draft to done - every page with purpose
Those conversations shaped everything.
From the monthly calendar layout, to the reflection prompts, to the gentle reminders about horse care and rider wellbeing - every detail was influenced by what riders said they needed most.
Now, The Rider’s Edge Journal guides you through twelve months of your riding year - one goal, one ride, one reflection at a time. It’s your space to plan, track, and notice the small moments that make a big difference.
Every page has a purpose: to help you stay organised, grounded, and kind to yourself along the way.
Why it matters
What makes this journal special isn’t just what’s printed inside - it’s the heart behind it.
It’s a reflection of riders who know what it’s like to balance lessons with life, to rise before sunrise, and to show up again after a setback.
It’s a reminder that growth isn’t a straight line - and that bravery can be found in every small step forward.
The Rider’s Edge Journal is for everyone - no matter your discipline.
Whether you ride English or Western, chase times or simply chase sunsets, this journal was made to support your journey. Because the lessons, reflections, and small wins that shape us as riders are universal - and every rider deserves a space to capture them.

To everyone who shared their voice - thank you
If you were one of the riders who shared your thoughts, thank you (again, and again!).
And if you’re holding The Rider’s Edge Journal now, I hope you feel that same sense of community and connection woven through every page.
Because this isn’t just a journal - it’s your story.
A story of courage, growth, and what it truly means to ride brave.
