Spring Into the New Riding Season: Reset, Refocus, and Ride Brave

Oh hey, Spring! 🌸☀️

After months of muddy boots and early sunsets, it finally feels like the days are getting brighter, the rides a little longer, and our moods… well, sunnier too! Spring just has a way of lifting the energy, doesn’t it? It makes you want to get out there, dream big, and see what the next season has in store for you and your young rider.

And what better time to hit the reset button on goals? Whether it’s nailing a new skill, building confidence in the saddle, or strengthening that bond between pony and rider, Spring is our reminder that growth doesn’t happen all at once - it happens one ride, one lesson, one goal at a time.

Why Spring Feels Like a Fresh Start

Everything about Spring screams fresh beginnings - the green paddocks (laminitis nightmare!), the warmer rides, and that extra bit of daylight after school. It’s the perfect chance to:

  • Reflect on what went well (and what didn’t) last season.

  • Reset those riding goals without any pressure.

  • Refresh your riding routine with new energy and excitement.

The sunshine makes us curious about what’s next - more rallies, more adventures, more rides where your young rider can grow braver in and out of the saddle.

Goal-Setting Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

Here’s the thing: setting goals shouldn’t feel like homework. It doesn’t need to be big or serious to make a difference. Small, simple goals often lead to the biggest wins because kids actually stick with them.

Try this:

  1. Dream big, start small – Let your young rider talk about what excites them for the season ahead.

  2. Break it into steps – Goals feel easier when they’re bite-sized.

  3. Check in often – Life changes, ponies change, goals can change too. That’s ok!

And honestly, the sunshine makes it so much easier to stay motivated. Who doesn’t love riding when the weather’s perfect?

The Riding Brave Journal: A Goal-Setting Sidekick

This is exactly why I created the Riding Brave Journal - to give kids a simple, fun way to set goals, track their rides, and celebrate progress along the way.

Inside, they can:

  • Write down their riding goals for lessons, rallies, or comps.

  • Reflect on what went well (or not so well!) after each ride.

  • Celebrate every little win because they all matter.

It’s about building confidence, not pressure - and giving kids something they’ll love looking back on at the end of the season.

Let’s Make This the Season of Brave Goals

Grab the Riding Brave Journal and help your young rider write down what they want to achieve this season.
